Registration Information
- Register online at www.beaumontsummersplash.ca. A confirmation email will be sent when the registration has been received.
- Registration is complete only when online payment has been received.
- Use the notes field during registration to identify a coach responsible for more than one team, a known league-game conflict, or a travel-related scheduling concern. Tournament organizers will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee them.
- Teams must be prepared to play as early as 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Requests to avoid Friday-evening games will be considered only for travel requirements or league-game conflicts.
- After registering, upload the official team roster as a PDF or Word document and complete the online tournament roster. Every participating player must be added and activated. Review the roster limits in Section 2.
- Once the schedule is posted, it is final. Changes will be made only to correct an error. Teams are responsible for checking the tournament website for updates.
- Print one game sheet for each match and give it to the referee before kickoff. A guest-player consent form must accompany the game sheet for every match in which that player participates.
Team Official Information
Communication
- All calls and emails to tournament staff must come from a coach, assistant coach or manager listed on the official roster. A tournament representative or bench parent who is not listed may communicate on the team’s behalf if the coach is copied on every email.
- Include the team name, gender and age group in all email correspondence.
- Coaches and managers must share tournament information with players and parents. Players and parents should not contact tournament staff directly.
Responsibilities and Conduct
- Coaches and managers are responsible for knowing and following all tournament rules, including guest-player eligibility requirements. A team that uses an ineligible player will forfeit the affected match.
- Team officials are responsible for the conduct of their players, parents and spectators. Unsporting conduct may result in discipline, and disruptive spectators may be directed to leave the field area.
- Verbal abuse of referees, tournament staff or volunteers will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the tournament.
Check-In and Coach Packages
- Team check-in and coach package pickup will take place at tournament headquarters on Friday, June 18 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 19 from 8:00–10:00 a.m.
- Coach packages include important tournament information and sponsor giveaways.
- A team may play its first match before checking in, but the package must be collected by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19.
Game-Day Responsibilities
- The home-team coach must photograph both completed game sheets immediately after the match and send the images to the Tournament Director.
- The referee will return original game sheets to tournament headquarters after completing their assigned matches. Results will be posted after they are verified.
- Scores and team statistics will be posted at www.beaumontsummersplash.ca as soon as they are received and verified.
- Nets and corner flags will be provided. The home team must supply two game balls.
- If the teams are wearing similar colours, the home team must change jerseys or wear pinnies, as directed by the Centre Referee.
- The Centre Referee must record goal scorers and all yellow and red cards on the game sheet.
- The Centre Referee must write “Injury” beside the player’s name when the player is removed because of an injury or when requested by the head coach.
Inclement Weather
- Player, coach, referee, volunteer and spectator safety is the tournament’s first priority.
- City of Beaumont field closures do not automatically cancel tournament matches. Tournament organizers will monitor field conditions and have final authority to delay, shorten, reschedule or cancel a match when a playing surface or weather condition is unsafe.
- Teams must report to the field for every scheduled match, regardless of current or forecast weather. The decision to proceed will be made at game time.
- Lightning and thunder: When thunder is heard, the Centre Referee will suspend play and everyone must seek safe shelter away from the field. Play may not resume until at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.
- If at least 50% of a match has been played before it is stopped, the result is final and the score will stand.
- Organizers may shorten matches because of weather. When a winner is required, a shortened match may proceed directly to penalty kicks.
Field Locations
- All tournament fields are located in Beaumont, Alberta.
- Current field information is available under the Locations tab at www.beaumontsummersplash.ca. Select the abbreviated location name beside a match time to open the corresponding Google map.
General Tournament Rules
Section 1 — Registration and Eligibility
- Teams must register in the tier or division in which they are playing during the current season. Teams may not register in a lower tier.
- The tournament accepts community or house-league teams in U13, U15 and U17 Tiers 4–9. Club teams in Tiers 1–3 are not normally accepted; exceptions may be approved by the Tournament Director on a case-by-case basis.
- Tournament organizers may adjust tiers, groups or pools to create balanced competition. This may include combining tiers.
- A maximum of four team officials may be listed on the roster. At least one team official must be the same gender as the players and must be present at the team bench during matches.
- A player may participate for only one team during the tournament.
- Every player and team official, including each guest player, must be registered for the current season with a provincial youth soccer association that is recognized by and in good standing with Canada Soccer.
- Player cards are not required for the tournament, even where they are mandatory in league play. Players should carry government-issued identification showing their date of birth in case eligibility is disputed.
- Mixed-gender teams must register in the corresponding male division.
- A coach or manager who is serving a suspension imposed by Alberta Soccer or another cooperating association may not participate as a team official. The team may still attend.
Section 2 — Team Rosters
- Every team, including EMSA and EMSA South Zone–Beaumont teams, must upload its official provincial roster to its online team profile before completing the tournament roster.
- The official roster and all guest-player information must be submitted by June 8, 2027.
- No roster changes are permitted after the team’s first tournament match. A player who was not included before that match is ineligible.
- A player may not appear on more than one tournament roster.
| Age Group | Maximum Roster |
| U13 | 16 players |
| U15 | 20 players |
| U17 | 20 players |
- A team may dress and play only the maximum number shown above unless it has approved special dispensation.
- When guest players replace rostered players who cannot attend a particular match, cross off every non-participating player on that match’s game sheet.
- Existing EMSA special dispensation to carry additional players will be recognized. A non-EMSA team seeking to exceed the standard roster limit must submit its official roster and written approval from its soccer organization.
- Out-of-province teams must submit their official roster and a travel permit from their provincial soccer association listing every player travelling to the tournament.
Section 3 — Guest Players (Trialists or Call-Ups)
- A team may use no more than five guest players during the tournament. Guest players may be added only up to the applicable maximum roster size of 16 or 20 players.
- Guest players must be properly registered for the current season and come from the same district association as the tournament team.
- A guest-player consent form is required for each guest player and must be signed by the player’s current coach and a team official from the tournament team.
- The guest player’s official team roster is not required; however, proof of current registration must be provided if requested by tournament organizers.
- Every guest player must be clearly identified on the tournament roster and game sheets.
- Give the referee a copy of the guest-player consent form with the game sheet before each match in which the guest player participates.
- Cross off every listed player who will not participate in that match. The game sheet must accurately identify all participating players, including guest players.
- U13, U15 and U17 teams in Tiers 4–9 may use guest players from the same or a lower age group, division or tier.
- A guest player may play for only one team during the tournament.
- Using an ineligible player will result in forfeiture of the affected match.
Section 4 — Games
Match Format
| Age Group | Format | Players |
| U13 | Two 35-minute halves | 9v9, including goalkeepers |
| U15/U17 | Two 35-minute halves | 11v11, including goalkeepers |
- Halftime is five minutes.
- No additional or extra time will be played.
- Round-robin matches may end in a tie. Only a match requiring a winner will proceed to penalty kicks.
- Each team is guaranteed at least three matches. Medals will be presented as placements are determined, with gold, silver and bronze recognized in each pool.
- Unlimited substitutions are permitted at the referee’s discretion.
- Timeouts are not permitted.
- All referees will hold current Alberta Soccer certification or an equivalent qualification and will be assigned by the tournament referee assignor. Decisions involving interpretation of the Laws of the Game are final.
Mercy Rule
- A maximum five-goal differential will be used for standings and tie-breaking statistics. For example, a 6–0 result will be recorded as 5–0 for standings purposes.
- Referees must record the actual score on the game sheet. The Tournament Director will apply the mercy rule when posting standings.
Pool Formats
| Pool | Format |
| Three teams | Each team plays a round robin. The second- and third-place teams play a semifinal; the winner plays the first-place team in the final. |
| Four teams | Each team plays three round-robin matches. Gold, silver and bronze are determined from the round-robin standings. |
| Five teams | Each team plays four round-robin matches. Gold, silver and bronze are determined from the round-robin standings. |
- Round-robin matches may end in a tie. If teams are tied in points after round-robin play, the tie-breaking procedures below will apply.
- Finals must produce a winner. A final tied after regulation will proceed directly to penalty kicks; no extra time will be played.
Game Sheets
- Official tournament game sheets are available through the tournament website. Once registration is complete and the schedule is posted, select the green “Download Game Sheets” button.
- Complete the game sheet in full and give it to the referee before kickoff.
- List every participating player, including each guest player, and label guest players accordingly. A player who is not listed before kickoff is ineligible.
- Cross off any listed player who will not participate. The final game sheet must accurately identify the players who took part.
- Confirm that every jersey number on the game sheet matches the number worn during the match.
- After the match, the home-team coach must photograph the completed game sheets and send them to the Tournament Director. The Centre Referee will later return the originals to tournament headquarters.
Game Balls
- The home team must provide two size 5 game balls for each match.
Points
| Result | Points |
| Win | 3 |
| Tie | 1 |
| Loss | 0 |
Tie-Breaking Procedures
| Two-Team Tie | Three-Team Tie |
| 1. Head-to-head result | 1. Goal differential |
| 2. Goal differential | 2. Fewest goals against |
| 3. Fewest goals against | 3. Fair play: fewest yellow and red cards |
| 4. Fair play: fewest yellow and red cards | 4. Penalty kicks |

Forfeits
- If one team forfeits, the opposing team will receive a 5–0 win and three points.
- If both teams forfeit, the result will be recorded as N/S (no show), and neither team will receive points.
On-Field Medical Emergencies
- Time lost because an injury requires on-field medical attention will not be added to the match.
- If at least 50% of the match has been played when time expires, the match is complete and the score will stand.
- If less than 50% has been played, the match will be cancelled and recorded as 0–0.
Section 5 — Rules of Play, Discipline and Protests
Rules of Play
- The tournament follows the FIFA Laws of the Game and current EMSA and Alberta Soccer rules, except where these tournament rules state otherwise.
- Players, team officials, support personnel and spectators must follow the Laws of the Game and respect referees, tournament staff and volunteers.
- Offensive, insulting or abusive language directed at any player, coach, referee, staff member or volunteer will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the tournament. Each team is responsible for the conduct of its players, officials and spectators.
Discipline
- A yellow card is a caution. A player who receives one yellow card may continue to play.
- A second yellow card in the same match results in a red card. The player is sent off, may not be replaced, and the team plays short-handed for the remainder of that match.
- A player who receives a direct red card is sent off, may not be replaced, and the team plays short-handed for the remainder of the match.
- A player sent off for a red card or two yellow cards is suspended for the remainder of the current match and at least the team’s next match. The team does not begin the next match short-handed.
- A player who receives a second red card during the tournament, together with the coach, must report to tournament headquarters immediately after the match. The player may not participate further, and the offences may be reported to the player’s association.
- The coach is responsible for ensuring that every suspension is served.
- A suspended player or team official must leave the field area immediately and may not remain on the team bench while serving the suspension.
- Violent conduct or serious foul play carries an automatic suspension of at least one match.
- Tournament organizers may review any red-card offence and impose additional sanctions where warranted.
- A player already serving a league suspension must contact tournament organizers to confirm tournament eligibility.
- A coach serving a suspension from their league or association may not be on the bench as a tournament team official. The team may still participate.
Protests
- Only a coach or team manager may submit a protest.
- A protest concerning a result or player eligibility must be submitted in writing within one hour after the disputed match ends.
- Protests concerning the Laws of the Game or a match official’s decision will not be accepted.
- A red card and its resulting one-match suspension cannot be appealed.
- If a team uses an ineligible player, it will forfeit every match in which that player participated. The opposing team will receive a 5–0 win and three points.
Section 6 — Penalty Kicks
Before Kicks Begin
- Only players eligible under the Laws of the Game may take part. Normally, these are the players on the field when regulation ends. When penalty kicks are used after round-robin play solely to determine advancement or placement, each coach may select up to 11 players, provided both teams use the same number.
- Players receiving treatment for an injury remain subject to the referee’s direction.
- Coaches and players who are not participating must remain in their technical areas.
- Parents and spectators must remain on the touchline. No one may stand behind the goal line.
Procedure
- The Centre Referee selects the goal where the kicks will be taken.
- The Centre Referee conducts a coin toss. The captain who wins chooses whether their team kicks first or second.
- The referee records the order and outcome of every kick.
- Each team takes five alternating kicks, unless one team establishes an unbeatable lead before all five kicks are completed.
- If the score remains tied after five kicks per team, kicks continue one per team in the same order until one team scores and the other does not.
- The first five kicks must be taken by different eligible players. All eligible players must take a kick before any player may take a second kick.
- An eligible player may exchange places with the goalkeeper at any time during the procedure.
- Only eligible players and match officials may remain on the field. Except for the kicker and the two goalkeepers, players must remain in the centre-circle area.
- The goalkeeper who is the kicker’s teammate must remain on the field beside the corner mark on the side where kicks are being taken.
- If the defending goalkeeper leaves the goal line early and the ball enters the net, the goal stands. If the ball misses or is saved, the kick is retaken and the goalkeeper is cautioned with a yellow card, in accordance with the applicable Laws of the Game.
- If the kicker illegally feints after completing the run-up, the kicker is cautioned with a yellow card. Feinting during the run-up is permitted.
- Alberta Soccer’s Rules of Outdoor Soccer apply throughout the penalty-kick procedure.
| Thank you for helping create a safe, respectful and enjoyable tournament for every player, official, volunteer and spectator. |
